ERNIE ALLEN RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS 2013 U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL AWARD FOR “MERITORIOUS PUBLIC SERVICE” FOR OUTSTANDING DEDICATION TO PROTECT CHILDREN

ALEXANDRIA, VA. MARCH 14, 2014. The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children announced today that the organization's President and CEO, Ernie Allen, this week received the 2013 award for Meritorious Public Service. Allen received the award for outstanding dedication to protect children. The award is the top public service award granted each year by the Department of Justice and is designed to recognize the most significant contributions of citizens and organizations that have assisted the department in the accomplishment of its mission and objectives.

Each year the Attorney General recognizes Justice Department employees, civilians and other individuals for their distinguished public service work and dedication to carrying out the Department of Justice's mission. The recipients of the 61st year of the Department of Justice Awards Program were announced by the Department of Justice late last year. The award was received this week. Allen was nominated by the Criminal Division and selected by Attorney General Eric Holder to receive the award. There is only one Meritorious Public Service awarded each year.
