Global Internet Safety Campaign
The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) recognizes that the Internet plays an extremely important role in the lives of children on a global scale and takes its role very seriously to not only use the power of the Internet in a positive way, but also to identify the risks to children and to empower children and parents to work together to achieve greater online safety. To that end, ICMEC recently launched a global Internet safety campaign that includes a Guide to Online Safety, which consists of a brochure and CD of materials.
The Guide to Online Safety includes: Internet safety pledges for both parents and children to sign; a presentation that provides key Internet safety messages, as well as various resources for better understanding the risks posed by the Internet and how to stay safer online; and several short educational videos, created with the assistance of Microsoft. These videos – available in Arabic, English, French, German, Malay, Portuguese, and Spanish – provide insight into how to stay safer online for children, parents and other adults, and families.
