Dr. Franz B. Humer is Chairman of the Board of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC). Born in Salzburg, Dr. Humer holds Austrian and Swiss citizenship. He obtained his Ph.D. in Law from Innsbruck University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau. He joined Schering-Plough in 1973 and moved to Glaxo Holdings in 1981. He was elected to the Glaxo board in 1989 and became Chief Operating Director of Worldwide Operations in 1992.
In 1995, Dr. Humer joined Roche as head of the Pharmaceuticals Division and a member of the board. He became Chief Executive Officer in 1998 and then Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2001, retaining his duties as CEO. Dr. Humer joined Diageo, the world’s largest spirits company, in 2005, becoming its chairman in 2008.
In addition to his role at ICMEC, Dr. Humer is Chairman of the Humer Foundation; an Independent Director with Citigroup Inc., Chugai Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Japan, Bial Pharmaceuticals in Portugal, Kite Pharma in Los Angeles, and WISeKey in Switzerland; and a member of the International Advisory Board of Allianz SE.
