International Task Force on Child Protection (ITFCP)
The International Taskforce on Child Protection (ITFCP) was formed in 2014, after its members recognized that in order to affect any real change, organizations needed to work together and not in isolation, to set new standards and raise awareness about abuse within international school communities.
The ITFCP’s mandate is to apply the collective resources, expertise, and partnerships of its members to help international school communities address child protection challenges. Now a coalition of 100+ volunteers, ITFCP includes leaders of international education organizations, safeguarding consultants, school leaders, counselors and teachers, working collaboratively across professions with law enforcement officials and the medical community. We recognize and thank all the incredible educators and professionals who have volunteered their time to help international schools be more informed and prepared to prevent and detect the abuse of children in its many forms.
Our work together is based upon the following principles and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC):
- All children have equal rights to be protected from harm and abuse.
- Everyone has a responsibility to support the protection of children.
- All schools have a responsibility to build a community that values diversity, equity, and inclusion for each child.
- All schools have a duty of care to children enrolled in the school and those who are affected by the operations of the school.
- All actions on child protection are taken with the best interests of the child, which are paramount.
