May 25 is International Missing Children’s Day

ICMEC shares the story of the search and safe recovery of 19-day-old Elieth Samara in Guatemala

Every day children go missing around the world. And every day, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) fights to bring them home and create a safer world.

We are proud to be a part of commemorating International Missing Children’s Day in recognition of the millions of children who have gone missing.

This year, ICMEC will activate our social networks to raise awareness on the prevalence and complexity of this issue, culminating in the sharing of a powerful 5-minute documentary of 19-day-old Elieth Samara who was abducted in Guatemala. Within 33 hours, Elieth Samara was found safe thanks to Guatemala’s national response and the coordinated action of dozens of child protection heroes. Together, through awareness and bold action, we can bring more children like Elieth Samara home.
